Lawn Care & Snow Clearing

New Lawns:

Information on Your New Yard.

As the tenant of the main floor, you get full usage of the back and front yard. Here are some pointers and requirements:

✶ If you choose to share the property with your co-tenants, that is totally up to you. But we ask that you communicate well of what you are prepared to share and what you expect from them. Ensure everyone agrees.

✶ As this is a new property and new landscaping, continuous care is imperative to have your lawn be healthy and live a long and healthy life. The first few months are crucial to caring for your lawn.

-
That includes watering the lawn regularly as it needs time to germinate to the topsoil. Cut regularly. Provide weed control and fertilization. Pick up dog poop immediately so that it doesn’t kill the lawn.

✶ If you are away quite often, ask your co-renters to help. I’m sure they will. Especially, if you are open to sharing your yard with them.

Snow Clearing:
All sidewalks are to be maintained by the tenant.Snow and freeze/thaw cycle can result in hazardous conditions on walkways and sidewalks. These conditions are a safety concern for everyone, particularly for those with limited mobility, service providers and waste collection personnel.
-
Shoveling or pushing snow from sidewalks into roads or alleys is a violation of municipal bylaws and may result in a fine. It also contributes to unsafe driving and walking conditions and can lead to increase the cost of winter road maintenance and can lead to blocked storm drains.
We require you to remove snow and ice as soon as possible (required within 24 hours), especially during days of continuous snowfall and during freeze/thaw cycles. If the property is a corner unit, this includes all sides of the house. Failure to clear sidewalks may result in a fine from the municipality. We will be passing that fine to you.
